Interview with Hani Shennib
Hani Shennib trained in general and cardiothoracic surgery at Mc Gill University in Montreal, where he became Professor of Surgery, a post he held from 2000 to 2008. He recently moved to Phoenix, AZ, after undergoing additional training in endovascular technology. He is a keen observer of the endovascular scene and Chapter Editor of Innovations in Thoracic Vascular Surgery in the Multimedia Manual of Cardiothoracic Surgery. During the 2008 EACTS meeting in Lisbon, we had the opportunity to ask him several questions about this rapidly expanding field: what is in his opinion the most important advance in the field of endografting in 2008; what is his opinion about crossing the left subclavian artery; the necessary pre-procedural diagnostic examinations; the essential monitoring during thoracic endografting; the type and duration of training necessary to become independent operator for endografting, and about the future outlook in this field.
